The Sweet Tooth & Catering: Reviews & Ratings
Had the most AMAZING Poboy & conversation with the owner/cook of sweet tooth. The business has been on Garvey for 17 years and I think it’s because he stayed true to himself, pork free soulfood, chopped chicken barbecue sandwiches, Poboy and homemade iced teas and let’s not forget about the desserts which I didn’t get to get any because I’m on a sweet break but next time I pop in I’m definitely getting a sweet potato cheesecake. Now for my sandwich, I had four juicy shrimp on 1/2 and on the other two pieces of flounder garnish with a secret sauce and a slaw mix toasted to perfection. It was so delicious. Definitely popping back in to try more things on the item and if you’re like me, looking for a black owned businesses that hit the nail on the head definitely pop into sweet tooth.
Love this bakery. Ordered a lemon cake last year it was delicious. Ordered the same lemon cake again it was amazing. 10/10 each time.
Second time here, and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and baker himself, Shakoor. He’s been at this location for 17 years, and his passion for baking truly shows—you can taste the love and care in every bite. Even though it’s only my second visit, this place has already become my favorite cake shop. The cakes are super moist, the perfect density, not overly sweet, and they carry that 90s homemade nostalgia that’s so hard to find these days. • Banana pudding cake: incredible • Lemon cake: incredible • Key lime cheesecake: incredible I asked him which one is the best seller, and he said, “All of them.” And honestly, I get it—it’s impossible to choose. My advice: try them all!
We used the Sweet Tooth to cater our holiday party and I’ll never go another route. The service was amazing- Shakoor worked with us on timing, menu, and planning and made every step a breeze. He even coordinated with us day of to made sure food was appropriately prepped and warmed exactly when we needed. Then there was the food itself: we went with a mix of some salads (mesculin, pasta, and potato) as well as some hot apps (codfish croquettes and turkey meatballs), and every guest had a different favorite. It was all incredible- I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed turkey more than I did in those meatballs. Guests kept asking us for secrets and we could only tell them: you gotta hit Sweet Tooth right around the corner. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that we’ve been grubbing at this place every time we think of ordering out and the food is always exceptional. The po boys, the sides, the corn chowder… they always hit. And don’t even get me started on the desserts and baked goods. More than anything, though, it’s a friendly and welcoming place thats not only provided us great food at every ask, but also friendly faces and wonderful vibes. I look forward to eating here consistently in my day to day, and leveraging the great catering for all my parties going forward. 10/10, no notes.
I went las Friday and I got a Salmon burger and a delicious raspberry cheesecake…. Delicious!!!! Salmon was extremely good and desert OMG I will order I pie for Thanksgiving! If you go talk to the owner, he is so nice!!!
Oh this place . Who makes grits so good. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is so positive. They have affirmations all over the walls and the service is so personal and lively. You have to stop and get some fish, grits and banana pudding. Only my second time and I am hooked on the positivity as well as the food.
This is an amazing establishment. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The assortment was great. I am glad that I came early on Saturday morning. It gave me an opportunity to see all that was available. My fiance, who lives in Brooklyn, had heard of this place but had never visited. So, since I was in town, I thought that I would surprise him with the sweet potato pound cake that he had heard was good. He said it was excellent. I will definitely be back. And I know my fiance will definitely be a frequent flier.
